I totally agree with Bob Maickel and so glad he said what needed to be said.
It will be a sad day for me and others if the PSGA shows are discontinued.
It is so tough for me to attend now that I live in Florida, but I'm there in spirit when I can't make the 1200 mile drive.
Fortunately we here in Florida don't have any conflicts with our FSGC show date even though we hold it on the 3rd Saturday in September because it is attended mostly by local lovers of the steel guitar.

Bob Maickel, Thank you for your heartfelt comments. N.E. steel players have known for years that the PSGA show is in a class all it’s own… you feature name players, an excellent backup band, and the show is always held in a beautiful venue. I hope that you will be able to continue this tradition of excellent concerts.

I was honored to play on your shows in Armonk, Darien, and Norwalk, many times since 1988. My 1st time in Armonk I was blown away by the warm and generous response from the people. That memory will always be with me.

It is great that a compromise has been worked out with the two shows here in the Northeast. Unfortunately for me, I have a previous booking with the Ann Marie Collins band on Oct. 9th. I really appreciate Frank inviting me to play on all the shows in the past.
In unrelated issues; I was scheduled to play steel this Sat. at Rox`s in Oxford, Mass. with Rachel and the Western Partners. When Rachel told me the lead guitar player was Doug Beaumier, I started shaking in my boots. It would have been an interesting night. I`ve never seen Doug play lead guitar. The gig got canceled because of communication problems Maybe it was just as well. Imagine trying not to screw up on steel with Doug looking over your shoulder.
[This message was edited by manny escobar on 12 August 2005 at 12:51 PM.]

This is a bump of sorts..Manny, Imagine how the Steelers felt that use to have Buddy Emmons sit in and play bass with them? It amounts to everyone likes to drive different Cars now and then. Doug is the ultimate Professional. It would have been a fun gig.

Since the last show I have played for Bob Maickel back in 1988, I pray this wont as he said "quote" this may be our last show "unquote" or words to that effect. I would really like to see Smiley invited to do the PSGA show,he has never done the show and it would be a fine thing to do. I am sure that Bob may consider inviting Smiley.

Well I'm glad everything got worked out.I had a Gig to play the day of our Steel Show in Rhode Island but I cancelled the Gig so I could play at our Steel Show.

Manny Escobar if you want to shake in your Boots play in front of John Hughey, Bobbe Seymour,Tommy Dodd,Walter Haynes,Herbie Wallace,Russ Hicks and Laney, and many more of the Pros. I did and I did not let them bother me. I can't play for beans but I gave it all I had and they even stood up and clapped for me. Now that is what makes you want to try all the more.

Frank Caruso Anna and I will be there to your show.

Bob Maichel Anna and I will be at your show in November. I missed being there but I had a lot of fun in North Carolina and Tennessee playing at diffrent shows the Mid Atlantic steel guitar assoc. had as I'm also a member with them. Great bunch of People and Friends and I do miss them all. I learned a lot from them.

Jody. Smiley was formally invited by Jeff DeMaio to play our show this year. He seemed interested, but has NOT returned e-mails or phone calls. Need I say more? Time is running out.

BTW, Jeff DeMaio does ALL the talent booking for the PSGA show. I'm not involved with it to any great extent, only if Jeff needs assistance.

OK, here's the list of steel players for Frank Caruso's Steel Guitar Show on Sunday, Oct. 9th. They are not in any particular order.
Rob Hamilton
Merle Record (Maybe he'll bring DeeDee)
Mike Idhe
Sandy Martin
George Wixon
Tony Palmer
Jerry Fessenden and his beautiful guitars!
Donny Dion
Bob Allen
Al & Patty Howland
Dana Flood
Sam Gibson
Roger Trahan
John Demaille & Darlene
Bob Metzger
and of course Frank Caruso!
Singers include, Joe Casey, all the way from Florida!
Holly Landers, and many more!
Back-up band includes Paul Morin on drums, Chris Caruso on Bass, Dick Silver on lead guitar, Joel Glassman on fiddle and many of the above steel players sitting in.
And now for the big surprise, all the way from Nashville, TN., returning to dig up his roots, SMILEY ROBERTS!!
What a show this is going to be! We'll start at 1:00 pm and go until we're done!
There will be food and drinks available so you won't have to miss anything! If any of the steel players need to perform at a certain time, please email me at chris@countryfelix.com
Admission for non steel players is only $10.00. Where can you get this much steel guitar music for that kind of money!!
I'll provide directions in another post soon.
